Significance  of Andal's Parrot.

     Bhoomadevi  the wife of  Purushothaman(Lord Vishnu) came to the earth.She came as an infant baby girl to the earth.She came to the house of Pattanathan,who was a great devotee of Lord Purushothaman.Pattanathan ,who was no other than the famous Periazhwar.He found the child near his Tulasi Madam. He was a strong devotee of  Lord Purushothaman.He used to make garland with fresh flowers daily to Lord.He used to sing songs on Lord.Andal too wished to make garland and to offer to the Lord.Soon she made garland and used to wear herself  the garland ,and enjoyed the beauty in the mirror,she actually saw the Lord 's face in the mirror instead of her face.Her intimation to  Lord  was so much that Lord himself wanted to present her a nice gift. So He changed his flute as a parrot and the parrot came to Andal and from that day  the parrot was always with Andal on her shoulder.Even Madurai Meenakshi  temple we find parrot in Goddess Meenakshi's shoulder.
            During the month of Margazhi we celebrate Andal,reciting her Thirupavai 30verses.known as  Thirupavai      .
